How to Change the Water Filter – Kenmore Refrigerator – Including Part Numbers

Is it time to replace the filter in your refrigerator’s water dispenser? I couldn’t remember when I had previously replaced mine, and it took me a while to figure out what component number I needed for the filter. I hope this has been of assistance!

My refrigerator is a Kenmore model number 795.79302.901 with the following specifications: The 5231JA2006A water filter is included with this refrigerator, as well as with a large number of other Kenmore refrigerators (and LG refrigerators, for that matter). According to the manufacturer, you should replace these filters every six months, so I purchased the following three-pack from Amazon. The label with the model number and other information is positioned on the right-hand side of the inner wall of the refrigerator, on the inside wall of the fridge.

There are three filters in this package for purifying the drinking water from your refrigerator.

How to Replace the Water Filter

1. According to the instruction sheet that was supplied, it is recommended that you switch off the water to your refrigerator. This was something I did not do, and everything worked out perfectly. There was a little stream of water and a few drops, so it could be a good idea to rearrange some of the items so that they don’t get splattered. I believe that this would have dripped even if the water had been turned off, thus I consider shutting off the water to be an optional step in this process.
