How to Replace a Whirlpool Refrigerator Water Filter

Step 1: Locate Your Water Filter

To do so, you should be able to push firmly on the button located to the left of the water filter, which should cause the old filter to be released. According to the model, you may also need to press in on the filter while spinning it in order to remove the old filter.
There are three options for getting access to the water filter cover: releasing the tab to draw the water filter cover down, lifting the water filter cover, or pressing down on it with your finger.
You should be able to easily remove the old water filter from the refrigerator when it has been freed.
Step 4: Install the New Filter
Whirlpool refrigerators with water filters positioned in the grille include a color-keyed cap that must be unscrewed from the old filter and fitted into the new filter before the refrigerator can be used again.
