While the water is still flowing out of the hoses, close the valves on both hoses to halt the flow of water and prevent air from entering the water heater.

To empty the pipe of any trapped air, go to the kitchen sink and turn on the hot water side of the faucet for a few seconds.

Step 6 Start making hot water again

Reconnect the gas supply, plug the unit back into the wall socket, and turn the power back on to the device. It is possible that the unit will have to go through a starting procedure before any hot water is generated.
