- Having the filter taken out will not affect the operation of the water system since it will continue to work without it, and the clogged filter will not cause slow water dispensing or poor ice production.
- A new filter, on the other hand, will be required in order to obtain filtered water.
- REMINDER: It is usual to see one or two drips of water shortly after dispensing.
- It may be essential to keep the container beneath the dispenser for 2 to 3 seconds after pressing the dispenser button to ensure that the dispenser is fully operational.

How to Clean the Filters on Your Maytag Dishwasher
- Cleaning the filters on a regular basis helps to ensure that the dishwasher operates at top functionality. The filters are located in the center of the bottom of your dishwasher’s bottom. In order to operate, the triple filter system must be divided into two parts: an upper and a lower filter assembly. In order to prevent food from being recirculated onto your plates, the top filter assembly keeps big items and strange objects out of the pump
- the bottom filter assembly prohibits food from being recirculated into the pump.
The filters may need to be cleaned when:
- The Upper Filter Assembly contains visible items or soils
- the Lower Filter Assembly does not.
- It appears that cleaning effectiveness has deteriorated (soils are still visible on the dishes)
- The dishes have a rough texture to them.
The filters are incredibly simple to take out and keep in good condition. The chart below illustrates the frequency with which cleaning should be performed. The following is the manufacturer’s recommendation: By following this procedure, you will be able to preserve the water and energy that would have been required to make your dishes.
- You will also save time and effort as a result of this.
To remove the dishwasher filter:
- Lift the Upper Filter Assembly out of the way by turning it 14 turns counterclockwise.
- Remove the Lower Filter by grasping it in the circular aperture, lifting it slightly, and pulling it forward to remove it.
To clean the filter:
WARNING: Do not scrub the filters with a wire brush, scouring pad, or other abrasive material as this may cause damage to the filters. Rinse the filter under running water until the majority of the soils have been removed. If you have difficult-to-remove dirt or calcium deposits from hard water, you may need to use a soft brush.
To Reinstall the filter:
- Keep in mind that, according to the preceding pictures, the Lower Filter should be positioned underneath the Locating Tabs at bottom of dishwasher such that the circular hole for the Upper Filter Assembly aligns with the circular aperture in the bottom of tub
- The Upper Filter Assembly should be inserted into the circular aperture in the Lower Filter.
- Slowly spin the filter in a clockwise direction until it snaps into position. Continue to rotate the filter until it is securely secured into place. It is necessary to continue turning the filter clockwise until it lowers and locks into place if it is not completely seated (it is still turning freely).
NOTE: As long as the filter is locked, the arrow in the Upper Filter Assembly does not need to be aligned with the arrow in the Lower Filter Assembly.IMPORTANT: Do not activate your dishwasher unless the filters are correctly placed in order to avoid dishwasher damage.Check to see that the Lower Filter is properly secured in place and that the Upper Filter Assembly is properly locked into position.
- If the Upper Filter Assembly may be rotated freely, it does not mean that it is locked into place.
